MIA completed 19 major surgeries, some of them life-saving while in Tanzania this fall. In addition, they saw an average of 30 patients each day in clinic as well. Some of the women have required three units of blood before the surgery could be safely started. Many patients were seen in clinic as well by the OB/GYN team. Our team included LIse Rehwaldt, MD, Ambereen Sleemi, MD, Andrea Usher, MD, Clyde Jacob, MD, Meggin Hendricks, RN, and our team was also joined by several members of Lise’s family, her cousin Craig Bjorgum and parents, Mary and Red Rehwaldt who volunteered as well. Craig is an architect and offered his expertise to International Health Partners on the new hospital building.
